July 2020 Quarterly Results!
posted by Will on July 20, 2020
After an extended period time of waiting, due to these trying times, we finally got to have what was supposed to be our April Quarterly Tournament turned July Quarterly tournament and considering what we have all been up against, it was a great success!
Not sure what to expect in terms of turnout, we all were happy to see 44 people show up for the BIG GAME and their shot at the $950 prize pool! A new wrinkle added to this quarterly was bounties! The first bounty being taken out was Owner/ Tournament Director Will when Tom Harms KQ rivered a pair of Q’s to beat Will’s pocket 9’s… (yes yes he is a cheat lol just kidding!!) Tom took home the $50 CASH bounty and will have a 1 of a kind shirt soon that shows score! 2 Secret $25 bounties went well too! Ruth Cover was taken down by Steve Burman , then later, (and no i’m not making this up it was COMPLETELY random) Tom Harms was taken out by James Valentine, both James and Steve got $25 cold hard CASH! Finally, the final 10! As one could expect with a little smaller field and just with Back Door in general, our final 10 was a who’s who of the Back Door and Poker world! With 4 players left, they decided to chop the massive remaining pot for $185 per player!! It wasn’t over though as everyone still wanted to win! When all was settled it was Dave Starr (back for his 2nd heads up match in as many quarterly’s finishing 2nd last time) and James Valentine. When the final cards fell it was Dave with the breakthrough and the victory! Congratulations to Dave, James, and all the other top 10 and thank you all for making this the best league in AZ! Looking forward to next time, remember get your points, THIS COULD BE YOU!!!!
Here is how they finished:
1st – Dave Starr
2nd – James Valentine
3rd – Nick Masse
4th – James Hosobe
5th – Steve Burman
6th – Mike King
7th – Charlie Dunham
8th – Ginny Reed
9th – Danielle Benedetti
10th – Tom Harms
