Monthly Player Spotlight August 2023
posted by Will on August 5, 2023
We here at Arizona Back Door Poker have decided it’s time for something new and fun. Welcome to Player Spotlight! Here you will learn a little more about one of your fellow players, selected randomly throughout the season.
To get us started, we will start with our most recent quarterly tournament winner. This player announces their arrival and has mastered the Irish goodbye. This player keeps you guessing. This player is also one of our longest standing players. Everybody, meet Andre Brown.
Q: How does it feel to be the champ?
A: Good!
Q: Are you going to annoy everyone with this for the upcoming months?
A: No. I’ve won 4 times now. It’s not new. It’s not new.
Q: How long have you been playing in this league?
A: 10 years! I took my game from Will, Jeff Casimir. They taught me how to play. Jo Phillips is one of the best players in the league. How they play was instrumental to my game. Now I think I’m probably one of the most, if not the most, aggressive player in this league.
Q: How do you think you’ll play today?
A: I feel good about myself. I think we’ll be okay.
Q: What was your strategy to win the tournament?
A: Basically to get to the second round. Once I get to the second round, I tend to get a little more aggressive. I also look at the players at my table since I know everyone pretty well, and I look at who is aggressive, who won’t call, etc.
Q: How do you hope to be perceived as a poker player?
A: As being one of the best. One that’s aggressive. One that you gotta look out for. You can’t think I’m not gonna call you, or I’m not gonna be there at the end. I’m always gonna be there.
Q: Do you think you’ll be able to pull out another win at the next quarterly?
A: Yes, absolutely! I already put that in my game plan. I need to go back to back. But there’s some tough players for sure.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about Arizona Back Door Poker?
A: Will and Jenna! That’s the reason I come to poker!
